Time for some gardening knowledge 101. Many people come into our gardens and say oh my, Roses! What lovely Roses. Even a small boy said ROSES ROSES ROSES! And if you know me, then you’d know I’d correct every one of them and say, No Begonias.
The two most often mistaken for ‘roses’ are the Solenia Begonia (Begonia x hiemalis) and the Non-Stop Begonia (Begonia x tuberhybrida). Both are double flowering with the Solenia having smaller tighter blooms than the large Non-Stop. Interestingly enough the Solenia is a cross between a tuberous and wax begonia.
They come in a variety of bright colours and can be planted in full sun.
In the first photo, there are both kinds of each colour so you can see the size difference. The next are Proven Winners stock images.
